New Sharpening Company – North West

Simon and Ian two very dedicated men returned to Frankland Grinding for two more days of intensive training, four days in total. This is another local Lancashire based sharpening company. They had their first day as a general overview on the tools they wish to sharpen: Scissors, Knives and Clippers. Second day purely knife sharpening. Third day learning the skills of Dog and horse/barbers Clippers, finally 4th day Professional Scissor Sharpening. They bought ALL the necessary grinding machines + Wolffs new Convexing Clamp after much in depth training and work on their part.

I had a sneaky feeling their favourite area was Knife Sharpening so chefs be ready for Simon and Ian .

Visit by Colin Dowle from Eastbourne, East Sussex

Colin Dowle spent two days with me last week. Has his sister is a dog groomer he was aware of a shortage of professional sharpeners in his area. He was very serious about learning the maximum during his stay. We covered ALL types of Clippers for Dogs, Horses,Sheep, Barbers etc Also pro Rafa scissors for right and left handed, curved and straight, thinning scissors etc Also we sharpen many types of knives. He passed his test with flying colours. Colin purchased all three machines plus a selection of Professional scissors.

An intelligent and well mannered man with the right attitude .

Visit by Lee Holroyd from West Sussex and Ross Wotton from Devon

Due to me having the dreaded “influenza” bug I nearly forgot these very pleasant gentlemen were coming today Saturday 4 February for one day of introductory Training. They arrived on the Friday and stayed in a modest , value for money guesthouse in Clayton-le-Moors, apparently had a good breakfast so were alert and fresh for their day of instruction with myself. This training was all inclusive, how to service/sharpen: all types of Clippers, Scissors (hairdressers/barbers/dog groomers etc) and double bevel + single bevel corrugated and serrated knives. Truly- two intelligent, business orientated, hands-on guys. When they start up as they both indicated they would- they will be natural sharpeners.  I feel with their individual characters, they will be an instant hit with the vast clientele available to them. God Luck Ross and Lee ! Life is definately what we make it !
