Maurice Patterson of Wickersley/Hellaby Rochester New Sharpener for Dog/Horse Clippers,Scissors and Knives.

In the past few days I had the pleasure of training Maurice , who had intention of learning how to Service & Sharpen all types of Professional Hairdressers/Barbers Scissors ( left and right handed) Dog/Horse and Veterinary Clippers and all types of Kitchen and Chefs Knives. Maurice had spotted a hole in the market e.g. the lack of a Professional sharpening service in his area. And of course this is a new career opportunity for him which if promoted and marketed intelligently will keep him quite busy and he will be answerable only to himself.  Maurice is a Key Cutter and Shoe Repairer. The combination of these two complimentary jobs will keep Maurice very busy. HEELS AND KEYS is the name to look out for in the Rotherham , South Y orkshire area.

Of course Maurice gave me full permission to print this article.

Good Luck Maurice

all spare parts and new Professional Scissors available.

New Sharpening Service for Dog/Horse Clippers,Chefs Knives ans Hairdressers etc Professional Scissors in ICELAND

Kristjàn Segursson and John came from ICELAND last week for training how to sharpen/service Dog Clippers, Horse and Barbers/Vetinarary Clippers; all types of Chefs Knives and all types of left and right handed Hairdressers and Dog Groomers Scissors. Two very practical hands on and friendly Icelandic men. Their knowledge of the English language was fantastic. That’s good because the Icelandic language is not one of the languages that I have learnt. They stayed in the Swan Hôtel in Whalley which was very much to their liking. I taught them all the theory of sharpening and then I personally sharpened several clippers, scissors and Knives , then I put them to work. After each job that they did I tested the clippers on dog hair, a test mat and special hollow string, scissors were tested on single ply tissue and then on human hair. Whilst I was training them a chef came with his (blunt) Knives which we sharpened. All was great. I hope to visit Kristjàn and John in Iceland in the future. Now I must concentrate on getting all their machine well packed to go to Iceland.   Tvö Gott Fólk.

GET SHARP-Carol Holmes-New Scissor/Clipper Sharpening Company

In compliance with current legislation full permission was granted for FGP to produce this article. My wife and I met Carol and her friend Sue in bello Sorrento,Italy some two years ago where we discussed amongst other things  our careers. Carol’s daughter Lenice manages an already successful company in Leyland area called The Fur Stylist, Dog Groomers. but, getting her clippers and scissors sharpened to perfection was often a problem. I proposed to Carol doing this work for her daughter , Carol decided after some considerable thought coming to me for Expert Training and to purchase our AF/10 Clipper Honer and Wolff Industries(U.S.A.) Ookami Scissor Sharpening System. For which FGP have European exclusivity. ……….so Carol  was fully trained by Arthur and loves the work and it shows ! I believe Carolwith her Professional Marketing background will soon be marketing Professional Scissors and Clippers for the Equestrian world as well as dogs. So local people support her -please ! GET SHARP  with Carol !!

Training-New Customer- new friend- Jeremy Ricksonn

14/15/16 January 2019

Full permission was granted to produce this article.

Jeremy who was born and spent most of his life in  Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) decided to start a new business – Servicing Professional Scissors, Clippers for Dogs and Horses/sheep etc  and Chefs Knives. He looked around on the web here in Europe to find the best person to train him.  He contacted David Magee, I learnt later, a man (ex Policeman) who Arthur had trained. David strongly suggested to Jeremy that he should come to me. So Jeremy and I spent 2-1/2 days learning the theory of sharpening and ASSEMBLING clippers , Knives and scissors. Then into the “ Operating Theatre” to actually do the sharpening.  The Master first (!) then the student, Jeremy is a dextrous man & I noticed a confident man and very soon got “the hang of it”. I have a feeling Jeremy will be back to buy a selection of Cobalt and Titanium Professional Scissors to resell in his area. Jeremy now lives in Wistanstow, Craven Arms, Shropshire. So craftsmen and women in Shropshire give Jeremy a call ; he is  kind, friendly and a good listener. And he is now well on his way to learning  this profession.  All in all quite a Sharp guy.

Yet another Training visit from Pets At Home 8 Jan.2019

Full permission was granted to me to produce this article for my website and Facebook.

A pleasurable day when Ann and Sophie arrived for training to complement the team at Pets at Home, Stoke-On-Trent. The girls arrive at 1000 and left at 1500. They both had different levels of experience with Groomers Scissors and Clippers. Most clippers that their company use are : Andis, Öster and Wahl . They were both familiar with assembly of Clipper blades so we concentrated our efforts on their Sharpening/Honing. Ann had some experience of this, but these were the first “combs and cutters” for Sophie to sharpen.  After her initial (natural) nerves Sophie rapidly learnt the skill, the speed of sharpening and the pressure need of the fingers on the blades (approx 1200 Grammes)  . Pets at Home purchased another AF/CAN CLipper Honer and left Frankland Grinding Products with the machine.

Then we spent time Sharpening Professional Grooming Scissors, correct sharpening angles, different types of scissors- in Titanium ,Cobalt and  Stainless Steel. How to correctly replace a bumper ( between the handles, correct balance and making sure the tips meet.( no cross over, no gaps at the tips). How to de-burr after sharpening etc.

A rewarding day for all concerned.

THE LAUNCHING OF “Ace of Blades” (Alex Birch)

Equally Servicing hairdressers and groomers cutting , thinning left and right handed scissors were done perfectly after 2 or 3 demonstrations. The day after his training he was out Servicing Clippers and Scissors. So people in Wirral C’MON AND SUPPORT ALEX OF ACE OF BLADES !!

Visit by Mr Ali.Clements from Bury St.Edmunds 22 Nov.2018

Ali Clements and I are old friends going back 35 years + ! Not much could I teach this man about sharpening as he has been saw doctoring most of his life. However Ali wanted me to teach him the finer aspects of sharpening Animal and Barbers etc Clippers and Professional Scissors. Bearing in mind his background we completed the job in one slightly longer day.  We will probably be meeting up in the next few days on my way down to catch my ferry to France or on the return journey to hand over the necessary machinery.

So good luck Ali in Suffolk when visiting dog groomers, horse stables and vets and Hairdressers/ Barbers, Full permission was granted by Ali to post this to my website. You are a natural at this !!

Training Susan Horridge of Bury Lancashire 24November 2018

Visit by Audrius and Viktorija

20 &  21 November 2018 Audrius and Viktorija now live in England and have been here for some six years. They drove up from Swanscombe, near Dartmouth,  Viktorija is a qualified dog groomer and runs a very busy business. I have full permission from them to post this summary. The problem they had as I witnessed was the lack of an efficient sharpening service in their area, in fact, Viktorija brought quite a lot of black in colour Wahl clippers that she had paid to be sharpened. The thin ledge on the inside of all her comb blades and been almost ground away. So we spent one full day learning how to correctly sharpen, clean, lubricate , assemble and test clippers. Both of them rapidly got on with this. Day two we concentrated on Servicing/sharpening scissors for groomers and hairdresser/ Barbers.  Audrius who is at present a personal trainer will soon be fully occupied Servicing Dog/Horse/Vetinary Clippers and all types of Professional Clippers using the AF/CAN Clippers Honer and Wolff Industries Ookami OGS-TAS Scissor Sharpener. Arthur Frankland is the Exclusive  European Distributor for these products.
